Located in a tranquil valley near the beach and Rozel Bay. The car park can be full and you may have difficulty parking. This luxurious country house hotel affords a complete retreat, where your only distraction is the sheer beauty of all you survey: Built in 1843 with 5 acres of woodland which look down on the picturesque Rozel Bay and its bustling fishing community. This hotel delivers perfection at every level.

Originally built in 1843 as a private residence it has been enhanced to provide luxurious accommodation in bedrooms and suites that include facilities such as spa baths and four poster beds. If you yearn to relax; put your feet up; be a little self-indulgent for a while, this elegant country hotel will pretty much tick every box. A choice of dining is offered in the traditional oak panelled à la carte restaurant or the conservatory brasserie.

Upon arrival, we enter the grand wood panelled reception area. Warm and welcoming; we are offered a glass of sherry by a personable receptionist and then led to our gorgeous room with a small balcony.

Presided over by a splendid oak panelling and elegant décor. I adore this hotel. You can be assured of being personally pampered in beautiful rural surroundings, with a committed customer service team and a warm welcome, splendid food, peace and quiet. It’s the attention to detail throughout the Chateau that makes it special. The oak doors and stylised sitting room melts from soft sage green and cream, with an ornate ceiling, ornate panelling and an open fire. The wood panelled oak bar is superb for cocktails before dinner.

As for the food, it was modern and creative. The food was cooked with the best techniques that most grounded chefs, would struggle to accomplish. Everything was perfectly cooked and flavourful, and the ingredients were top-notch.
In polished and elegant surroundings, the service was first class. There were a few glitches though. The white wine selected for our meal had not been chilled and we had to wait for the bottle to be cooled during the meal. Which defeats the object of having wine with your meal really. Ah, a chink in the Le Chaire armour. The waiter forgot to serve us the white wine when ready and we ended up serving ourselves. Not quite 4-star service.

Chateau Le Chaire is definitely one of my top five hotels. The restaurant is chic and romantic and the food elegant and refined. The portions are small, which is in keeping with gourmet meals but flavoursome.

Whilst I am trying to remain objective, I have visited Le Chaire several times and collectively, I have consistently had a good experience with the food, the décor, the customer service and the experience. It is enchanting. It takes me back to the days of art deco, Jean Patau, Greta Garbo and Coco Chanel. The vintage era of the roaring twenties with flappers, cloche hats, tuxedos and black tailcoats. Chateau Le Chaire fits beautifully into the era of affluence, elegance and sophistication. It has a whimsical quality of latter years and brings style and refinement to the present day.
